can an opamp be used as a voltage amp? I want to boost 12V to about 40V.
Basically, a car amp power supply.

You may need DC-DC chip of solid state.

Hi,
An opamp is designed to output voltages within it's supply limits. Unless you used a transformer to step that voltage up, you won't get any higher voltages out of the amp.
As digi01 has stated, you may want to look into a DC-DC converter.
