Phono stage project - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am looking to build a phono stage to compliment my Nouvelle Platine and Atma-Sphere MP3 preamp . I want to add an additional tonearm to my table. I've been looking at the "Pearl" but it does not seem to have the gain I would need for my Koetsu Rosewood. Any Ideas? I would like to keep the setup ballanced to best suit the MP3.

Thanks in advance

KDT,

You could build a head amplifier or use a transformer in front of the Pearl. I think it is an excellent design that stacks up with the best.

Agreed.

Buy a transformer. From own experience (Ortofon Rohmann and Koetsu Urushi) i can recommend the Jensen JT-346-AX which is versatile and sonically invisible. Highest praise possible. If i can put up to 5 stars on an audio project, i put 6 on the Jensen.

And after all you may end up with tube phono stage as well .... :)

Having used it in the FET 1 at Threshold, I can recommend
the Jensen highly as transformers go.
