With a SPL of 101dB per watt these drivers are completely out
of the realm of domestic hifi, and will require huge cabinets for
smooth bass, these drivers are designed for mindnumbing SPL
levels that are required in professional PA rigs.

As stated reflex is completely out of the question,
even sealed boxes are going to be very big.

I assume Vas is 17 cuft.

10 cuft will give you a Q of 1.2 and Fb of 50Hz which is on the
limit of useable, 20 cuft gives you a Q of 1 and Fb of 40Hz
which is a much better alignment but 20 cuft is a huge box.

Possibly could be used in open baffles, with a small amplifier,
otherwise simply not suited to domestic use.

I WILL BE USING THESE IN A MOBILE DJ RIG , I HAVE BUILT OTHE BOXES . JUST WANTED NICE PLANS FOR THIS SPEAKER . HAVE SEEN PLANS FOR FOLDED HORNS IN FANE BOOK I HAVE, DID NOT THINK THEY WOULD SOUND WELL . WANT A NICE DEEP BASS
GUESS 18" SUBS WILL NOT DO IN ANY TYPE OF ENCLOSURE.

IF ANYONE CAN HELP WITH ENCLOSURE TYPE ,AND PLANS WOULD HELP
sreten
like I said for high efficiency you need big boxes, volumes in litres :

(Its the Q of the drivers that is the problem)

So for mobile DJ, basically buy a van, cut 2 18" holes in the side. Install drivers, and use windows to tune.

Haha, 2000L is one heck of a big box.
sreten
Just a thought, but using the drivers in isobaric configuration
will half the cabinet volumes required, though for stereo you'd
need another two drivers.

I can see using them in a dipole configuration, but other than that you'd need a really big box, as others have pointed out.

Wow, the frequency response of an 18" driver reaching 5000 Hz.

HOW ABOUT FOLDED HORN ENCLOSURE ,THAT SHOULD WORK FOR THIS SPEAKER? OR WBIN STYLE I HAVE FOUND THESE TYPES ON NET .
mikee12345
when using existing horns one must replace the woofer with one of similar t/s specs

Or you must remodel it.

the Qts is TOO HIGH For a flat response horn

here-
:dead:
