Nat Riscica
Hello,

Some pictures of my Aleph 60. The Aleph's drive a pair of Klipsch Cornwall with no bump, non hum, no hiss.... only Music!:D

Same data:

Power supply +/- 33 Volt;
Bias 2,4 A;
temperature rise of about 18° over the heat sinks:cool:
Ofset +/- 6 mV

The next step: Aleph P.

Thank you Mr. Pass!
Thank you Kristijan for the fine Pcb's.

Very nice job Nat.

Your construction is excellent. Tell us more on how they sound.

I'm wondering, what is the function of the 2 large 68ohm resistors?
Nat Riscica
At work....
Nat Riscica
Thank you Roddyama for your words,

the resistors are 0,68 Ohms and are in CRC filter arrangment.

They sond powerfull, deep, sweet and magic!!

Sorry for my bad english.....

Nat,

Nice job, well done.

And about the sound of these ? I am also interested in the Pcb for CCS
for my X-BOSOZ

Alain.
Nat Riscica
Hello Alain,

The sound relaxed and very easy to listen. it's powerfull at the bass with a lot of details in the bottom end. The midrange is liquid and sweet with no grain. The top end is a velvet on my Klipsch. The image is liquid and plastic like a Leitz Summicron lens......

I'm Happy:)

Eccezziunale veramente ! :D

Very very nice.... where did you get those cases w/heatsinks (and how much did they cost?)

Cheers

Andrea
Nat Riscica
Hello Andrea,

thank you for your comment..

The case with the heat sinks is the model 04/400 from HiFi 2000 and it cost me about 125 €:bawling: :bawling:
He work great, at 2,4 A I can touch it with non problem.

Nat

Grazie;)

Andrea, you can find it at www.digitex.it, under "contenitori per elettroniche" then "04/400 Pesante dissipante"

Nice work indeed, I can't use a similar case in my room, but all the work is amazing.
Congratulations!

Thank you Fabrizio.:D

Nat

Pardon my ignorance.

But aren't the 68 ohm resistors across the supply caps shorted out by the copper bar???- thereby effectively taking them out of circuit?? ie: no CRC

George
Nat Riscica
Hello George A,

the resistors are 0,68 Ohm and are mounted on a veroboard no on copper bar, so there is a crc. Every cap is 47000 uF, so there is 47000 - 0,68 - 47000 on plus and minus side.

Nat:cool:
Nat Riscica
sorry, the resistor value is 0,34:headbash:

Nat,

Is that a Benjamin-Miracord turntable in the photo next to the reel-to-reel tape machine?

Regarding the amp itself, I like the power supply construction.

Erik
Nat Riscica
Hello Erik,

the turntable is a Thorens TD 160 MK V S with a Mission Cyrus arm and the sweet Shure V15 IV MR.
Near the reel to reel tape machine there is a Philips DVD 963 SACD.

CheffDeGaar
Hi Nat,

Congrats ! Wonderful work for wonderful sound !

Just two questions of mine ;) :
What kind of damping material (the silver square-tiled sheet) did you put under your transformer ? Is it efficient ?
And also, what are the blocks under the feet of your preamp ? Kind of sponge tweaks that can be found on TNTAudio ? (your rack reminds me of something ;) ).

Congrats again.
Nat Riscica
he CheffDeGaar,

the damping material under the trafo is a kind of "bitume" with a sheet of aluminium plate wich I find in a edil store. The damping factor is GREAT! :)
Yes, the blocks under the feet of the preamp is a kind of sponge for "pedicure" pourpouse:D :D like the tweaks that can be found on TNT Audio.

Sorry for my english... :bawling:

Nat
CheffDeGaar
Thanks Nat. That's what I thought. Will try to try ;) these "bitume" sheets. Seems to me I've seen some in hardware stores.

Thanks, and bravissimo :)

Dear Nat,

Do you still have the schematic plan of the Aleph 60, and any drawings of the Printed Circuit Boards you used?

Regards,
George
Nat Riscica
Hello George,

you can find the schematic of the Aleph 60 is on the www.passlabs.com.
For the pcb I have buy it from Kristjian.

Nat

Dear Nat,

You are right! It is there. The Aleph 30 schematic has been removed, but someone has helped me out with that.

Stabist
Hi Nat!

Beautiful Amps you've got

Can you tell me the housing dimensions?
Nat Riscica
Hello Stabist,

the dimension are L483 P400 H165 mm.

Hello,

some pictures of the power supply upgrade.
First step the Hammond choke in CLC arrangment.
Second the discrete bridge with BYW99W-200 fast recovery rectifier diodes.
A very deep improvement in silent, scene, and details.

Thank you Mr. Pass:D

Dear Nat,

I am just about to order parts for my Aleph 60. I have been reading hard and planning hard and it is now TIME!

1. Do you have a schematic for your current power supply. I have NOT as yet finalized my thoughts on this. I was going to just do it straight off Nelson's schematic, but it appears you have souped things up a bit.

2. What AC secondary voltage did you choose for the transformers?

3. Which PCB design did you choose?

It sounds as if you are VERY happy with your results, and I would like to get as much bang for the buck (or bang for time spent) on my little project.

Regards,
George.
Nat Riscica
Hello George,

yes, I'm very happy with my Aleph60, I'm working around the power supply, in my opinion the changes are very impressive.

The AC secondary is 2 * 25V 10 A (500 VA) for each monoblock;
The PCB are from Kristijan of PCB Design. Look around the forum for more details.
The Power supply is very simple. There are two bridges, one for the plus side and one for the minus side, followed by a CLC filter make with a 47000 uF, a 2,5 mH 10A Hammond choke and another 47000 uF capacitor.
If you want some other info feel free to ask me.
Sorry for my pathetic english.

Nat Riscica :D
GeorgeBoles
Dear Nat,

To me it appears you have:

a) an excellent amplifier;
b) an excellent answer to my questions;
c) an excellent way with your English.

Regards and thanks,
George.

I am interested in built Aleph 60 myself.
Is it alrite to built the amplifier as it is by using the suggested component values. Should I do that, what are the assumptions that I had made?

Thanks in advance........
