Hi all,

since 8 months I was working on this DIY project, it was functionnal since this summer but not assemblied.
A few measures:
H=360mm
l =430mm
L=310mm
weithg=31kg (62 pounds I think)

Electricals measures:

1,04A for each IRFP244
difference of current of one channel under the mosfets(min/max) 5mA and 8mA on the other channel
Offset, depending of the heat in the room, actually 5,9mV and 6,7mV for the second channel, the offset was lower this summer(1,2 & 1,7mV).
The amp is a little bit under the 50°C at 20°C in the room and under 40°C in standby mode(half current).

The pictures were difficult to make because this amp shine with the flash and without, my poor camera is not god enough so I tried to do the best I can.
The logo on the front plate is burn chemicaly and 1mm deep.
I had some pictures from the PCB but my son erased them from the PC, I realised the PCB at home with the PC and with a few material, it is easy to make good quality PCBs

How does it sound ?
the biggest supprise was the quality of all details, they come naturally up even if the musical message is complex, the second good supprise was the dynamic of all the range not only in the bass, it's really a very good amp, I use it with a pair of small two ways Audax and when I listen what is coming out from this little speakers I think it will be a revelation with my 15 inchs Tannoy, they will be in service when I have finished the room, at spring I hope.

Many thanks to all for your contribution and a special very big thank for Mr Nelson for his concept and to allow us to use it.

Looks great!

How did you realise a standby mode?

Yonnat, is this the PS for the relays only, or for the amp?
I don't realy understand the role of the resistors from the diode bridges tp ground

BTW, your amp looks really good! What is the frontplate made of? It looks new and shiny. My gainclone is made of non anodised aluminium, and I have to clean it everytime someone puts his finger on it, I hope you don't have to do this
Can we see more pictures? I'd like to see the back
Yonnat
Hi Bricolo,

the resistance are for the CRC of the supply, you will see it when I send the inside picture, the result of the CRC is only 30mV ripples on the +/- 25v.

I saw it was for a CRC filtering. But all the other PS I saw had only one resistor, on the V+ (or V-) rail. Not on the ground line
Yonnat
Bricolo,

the front plate is made of " laiton" in french, if you know the english word it will be fine

Thank for your reply.
Devil_H@ck
Wow, beautiful! Nice work!
Yonnat
I find them a liitle poor and will change them to aluminium cones

for Bricolo,
Yes we can only use two but there is no problem to have four resistances and the result measure was better in mine context.

Yonnat...very nice work!!!....congrats

Yonnat
the trafos are under the white plate and here are the CRCs
Yonnat
Thanks all for your kinds replys

here we have some details of a channel, the IRFP244 are mounted along the heatsink
Yonnat
there is 140.000Mf for the supply, the CRC at the begining were directly mounted on the first caps but they were too hot(80°C) so they move on Penthium III heatsinks.

Yonnat.
Luke
nice:cool:
Yonnat
Thank Luke.

Bricolo,
I find a picture from the back, I will have to change the screws, they aren't fine to me, the differential input is not used for the moment because my preamp doesn't have such an output but the PCB is ready for it.

Yonnat.
roddyama
Great job Yonnat.

Do those heatsinks provide enough cooling for the Aleph3?
Yonnat
Hi Roddyama,

thanks for reply, yes there are quiet enough, I think they have a value of 0,3 or a little bit better, the heat of the amp is a few under 50°C at the top of the heatsink with a current bias of 2,08A per channel.

Best regards.

Yonnat.
Duck-Twacy
I think it looks magnificent. Really very impressive.
Yonnat
Hi Duck,

thanks,

an other information I forgot yesterday the differential pair are mounted on a commun little heatsink so they have the same heat.

Regards.

If you need some of the screws I used for my gainclone, tell me.
Yonnat
Hi Bricolo,

thank you for your proposition, the screws will be the same that I used to fix the brass front plate(you see I have remenber it),they are chromed BTR diameter 5mm.

Best regards.

Oh, la, la....

C'est un bon amplifier!

The front panel is made of brass? How you make them shine like alumunium? Isn't brass color a bit like copper?

brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, it has a goldish color
sianturi
Ah oui!

J'ai pensé le couleur est silver.
I looked closely to the pics, and yes, it's goldish.... A bit like silver if i don't look closely.
Hehehe.... sorry!

You can see it easilly by comparing the front pannel's color with the heatsink's color
Yonnat
Hi,

thanks and specialy Bricolo who makes the answer for me, I have a lot of things to do and I have a look on the forum only every one or two hours. The front plate as been polished with different product I give here the french names and maybe Bricolo can traduct them, his english is better than mine so:
1) ponçage à l'eau papier 600
2) pate à polir
3) paille de fer très fine
4) feutrine spéciale
5) produit polish toux métaux
It takes four hours to have this result.
Bricolo the polish is "polish toux métaux" from Bühler, when you have finished with it some protection stay on the plate, good prevent for dusty fingers.
The heatsink are polished to.

Regards.

1) wet sanding with 600 sanding paper
2) polishing paste
3) I don't remember the translation for this. It's iron, specially made for polishing. It's sold in bags, in which is a lot of iron wires as thin as hair. I also used this for some other diy projects, gives very good results.
4) special felt
5) Polish :D
Steven
3) Steel wool

Cheers, Steven
Bricolo
Thank you ;)

Hy Michel ,

It looks really great ! Nice work indeed .

I would just say : "Aleph uber alles !"
thylantyr
I like the chassis and heatsink design.
Yonnat
Hi Thylantyr and RH9,

thank you for your kind reply, Rh9 may be you will begin a Diy project in the near future.

Best regards.

Ellsass blues
wehry nise job Yonnat:eek:
Yonnat
Hi,

thanks Ellsas Blues.

One of my friend give me a CD from a french group called "Entre 2 et 3" between 2 and 3 in english, the group is composed from amateurs, I like the music made of different styles but what me surpprised is the quality of the registering, I never heard some thing like that, really amazing, the dynami is giant and every sound very natural, it is like a direct registering sound we found some years ago on very expansive vinyls, the most of my others Cds are looking poor in comparison and I have a lot of. This group have to pay the production themselve and I am very glad to discover them and to buy their album, a must.

Best regards to all.
