DC Saturation current of Transformer core coil? - Click HERE for Original Thread
Mad_K
How can I calculate the DC saturation current of a transformer core coil (Monacor LSI-27T) ? The AC (50Hz) sat. current is 7,9A..

specs:

Technical datasheet
Inductance 2.7mH
Enam. copper wire (ø CUL) 1.2mm
Power rating 8/4 500WRMS/250WRMS
DC resistance 0.12 Ohm
Saturation current (50Hz) 7.9A
Dimensions 60x50x42mm (EI-57)
Fuling
The question is: Does the core have an airgap? Probably not if they´re intended to be crossover coils. Without airgap they´ll saturate very early if DC is applied.
