Hi negative,
i've got the Olympus D-520 Zoom (in Europe C220 Zoom).
i can you say that's pretty good.
It makes very clear and sharp pictures. It uses Smartmedia Cards (that cool) and the menu is light to understand.
The flash is good for inlight pictures or in the dark dark dark :)...
The battery standby is very good.
I'll post some pictures this evening..
Bernhard

in my opinion the Olympus is the better, we've got about 3 olympus digi-cams and they're still the best.
Negative Design
great, I had a feeling that the olympus was better lol
Thanks Neversaid, thats one vote for the olympus! :)

"dark dark darkd" hmmm so it takes great pix of prjection images?
I want clear and acurate pix of projected images.
Neversaid
ok negative...
i'll post pictures in about 4 hours if i#m back from work..
Have you got any projection panels to sell ? Please come in contact with me..
Bernhard
Takusama

It's not my camera but I think it's a good deal.

Edit: Oh and if you want to go more on the "safe side" just buy any recommended Olympus or Nikon cam...they're all good :D
Negative Design

I odnt have many panels anymore im into CRTs now ...but I will have 4 Ovation 840 1 telex M2x and others on the way ...probably my last panels...

looks nice but is (in my opinion) like the german JENOPTIK ****.
USefull for small kids who never want a goood qualitiy for pictures..
It's important on the lenses on the digitalcameras and on the CCD chip.
And there're the olympus the best.
Minolta is also good, perhaps negative should have a look at the Dimage E223 (?) too.. it's a good thing too.

It's not on your list, but I got a Kodak CX4310 for xmas this year. Super simple little camera, takes really nice pics. With a 128MB SD card, it takes nearly 100 pics at high resolution. Pics are huge, about 1.1M each and about 2000x1500 pixels. It's a 3.2 Mpixel camera.

Has two cons. Battery life. It's short, but you can learn how to manage it pretty well. The first 2 batteries lasted about 2 days. I've had the second batteries in it for a long time now and they still show a lot of life left. (plus they're rechargables!) Second con is zoom. Only has 1x and 2x. No inbetween. It's either zoomed or it isn't. But hey, I can deal with that.

Good part is that Wal-Mart sells them for just under $100. Bad part is I don't know if you'll be able to find them there now. They were the camera that they sold the day after thanksgiving and you had to be there super early to get it super cheap. I don't know how cheap though. But it's on the walmart website for $99, but out of stock.

I'd post a pic that I took with it in it's native reso so you could see how good it does, but unless you're running 1200x1600 like I am (21" monitor) then you're not going to see very much of it!
Neversaid
negative,
do you have messenger (icq, msn) ?
please come in contact about the Proxima 840 please..
Thanks
Bernhard
JOE DIRT®
I have a kodak cx4230 6x zoom lense and internal 16mb of memory it also accepts smart media cards inwhich I have a 64 mb card.
all digital cameras are hard on batteries so I bought 4 nickel hydrate AA`s so I never have a problem with powering it

the nice feature about this camera is that it has a video output so you can review your pics on your tv and ofcourse the usb connection to upload to your comp.....it also came with a great software bundle for editing and managing your photos

DIRT®
Neversaid
the olympus have got a video output too..

Negative,

I have the Sony Cybershot DCP-72 which is a 3.2 MP camera With 3X optical & 9.6 X digital zoom. On 64MB it hold 400 VGA pics or 40 3.2MP Pics. It handles outdoor and indoor shooting very well. Very nice colors and image details. Camera was at $300+ 2 weeks ago but i've seen it for $249 after rebates. Might be one to consider. Comes with batteries (batteries are NiMH & last a very long time) & charger. This camera also takes MPEG movies so it comes in really handy. Has a 1.5" screen and many options.

This camera receives a 4.8 out of 5 on some sites i've visited.
reviews: http://shopping.yahoo.com/p_sony-cy...c:bgsib,slk:sib

I recomend it, remember to buy a camera that you'll use and will last for a while. If you're going to make an investment, it should be a good one.

nah, sounds like most of us already have decent cameras ;)
Negative Design
I hope so :)

OfficeMax has a 3mega pixel for $79. very light and compact, with a OK-good picture. No optical zoom, small lens, which make me to return it tomorrow.

they also have another two 2MP cameras on clearence for $19 and $29. but you wont find it anywhere.

My advice: spend some money on a decent camera. you will use it more than in a darkened room for taking projector pictures. get at least 2MP, 3x optical zoom. for taking picture in dark, a self-timer plus a tripod is a must have.
Negative Design
I jsut want to to take 2-3 pix...I dont want to be a PHOTOGRAPHER! a TRIPOD!?!? jeez...no way..sorry lol
those things cost $$ do I need a to hire a crew and get some stage lights as well? lol thats overkill
I dont think even Steven Spielberg has to setup a set jsut to take 3 pix of a projector...lol

also... umm do i really need 3x zoom? the screen wont even be 10 ft away lol

ND-
18wheeler
In this case, the sony one on the ebay should be good.

I cannot agree with you on the tripod though. to capture a projected image, the shutter speed is 1/4 - 1/20 sec. a well trained photograher can hold camera without shacking at 1/30 speed. to avoid shacking, you need a tripod and a shutter release cable( cable cannot be used on digital camera, so you need to use the self-timer to release the shutter). Basic idea is to avoid any contact of your hand with the camera at the moment the picture is taking.

Remember first time YWH posted his picture? nobody believe it was ture, because nobody took measures to get a good picture.

optical zoom is to make the projected picture take up the view as much as possible. most camera has automatic exposure. If you have too many black boarders surrounding, it will miscalculate the exposure (in this case, over-exposed). normally, there are 1-2 feet on each sides if the camera is behind projector and you dont use zoom.

b.t.w. if you dont have a tripod, you can use a small bag of beans (sands, salt ..., anything small grain and heavy enough), support the camera on a flat surface.

oh, if you just want to take pictures of your project, and you have enough light, never mind the tripod or shutter speed.
Negative Design
I hear that alot..
wellsince we are in D>I>Y I belive its possible to make a DIY tripd...how hard could it be...lol

I will just put the cam on a flat surfaced table/desk for pix..im not paying hundreds for a piece of metal thats me.
doughboy
You could always give this a try. DIY Digital Camera

i also have to agree with 18wheeler on the bean bag or sand
thst flat table idea you have will work in some instances but not all the time believe me i tryed
Negative Design
ok...should mentioned the price earlier lol

Last time I checked a tripod a 900$ ....oh well :D

I was wondering why you hate the tripod so much
:D

a $20 tripod is good enough for a camera. You probably can use the $900 one for the projector itself. Like the one we saw earlier.
Negative Design
lol I feel like such a noob  lol
20$ is a steal (kinda) for what it does.
Im getting one :D

thanks guys!

I have this digi camera and its great takes awesome pics. I posted some pics on this forum before and you can see its very clear. The only thing I think is wierd is when it is low in batteries it turns black after you take a picture and have to wait like 2 seconds for it to appear. Maybe its my fault for not fully charging the battery before use?:clown:

here link to it:

ooo0o! nice pic! I hope ebay has the cam for cheaper though :)

did u use a tripod?
pizzi
No I put it on a chair, like the others posted walmart sells tripods for around $20. Also the camera has 4.2V dc in so you dont have to use the rechargable batteries if you want to.

I vote for the Sony Cybershot as well. I bought the predecessor to the DSC-P72 mentioned above - the P71 (nearly as good and still 3.2 megapixels) - got it whiteboxed from a seller called Tekstop on ebay who sell alot of these for $137 - about £90GBP.
Bargain - and one set of batteries can take about 80 photos (with plenty of zooming and use of the flash)

IMHO, a higher megapixel camera is important because as soon as you take any picture up to A4 size or above, you will start to lose sharpness and fine detail.
ap0the0sis
yeam man,, buy it. eventually you'll want to take a picture of something other than a screen shot (i hope:D):att'n:
Negative Design
yea..that optical zoom will come in handy in my peeping tim days...thanks! :) lol

cheap is the law of the land where I live :D
Negative Design
Sup guys,

I bought a Digi cam and received it today...I took everyones advice into consideration,I originally went for KC's cam butthe prices weren't right...I then lookd for Joe dirts(all rights reserved)cam but I saw no auctions with good features...
Then at the last second..I was told by a friend to get a gateway cam..and at that point I expressed my views(mostly expletives)he told me that gateway cams and pcs are totoally different and they basically use sonys camera and put their name on it..I belive him, I bought a DC-T23 AKA DC-C(Digital **** CAM!!)
any ways long story short this cam sux and im selling it soon...anyone want it :)
luckily I paid 98.34$ shipped its 2MP I've only taken ONE pic that is good/great the others are near decent, plus it only has two options for exposure auto and backlight, plus bad battery life 2flash shots and its dead..lol or close to it..PLUS slow flash charge at least 3 mins...etc...etc..

Cruser said I should get a 4mp cam...DAMN HIM!!! :( lol
with this **** in my hands I may follow ap0 and Crus0rs advice and buy a...a..an expensive cam **sigh**

Well goodluck with your continuing digicam journey, I use a Kodak CX4300 a 3.2MP similar to one mentioned earlier, I've got a few threads with pics around, all are done on this CX4300 "snapshot" camera, the quality is ok, here's an unscaled but cropped pic taken with the cam(prolly from about 2-3 feet away):
http://s88534836.onlinehome.us/fs/mobo1.jpg

No optical zoom, but this camera's been great for family photos and stuff - motion is a bit blurry compared to some other digicams I've seen.
Negative Design
wow...thats NICE! compared to mine..
my pix are dark...check out the one I loaded...WITH flash! lol

err nevermind..the file I tried uploading is too big...:(

I picked up a Sony Mavica MVC-CD500 last month at an estate sale...couldnt afford it normally but at $150 and still under waranty it was impossible to pass up. So far it is excellent, the shutter speed is incredable for a digital camera. I finally have my projector put together and will try to post some results this weekend.
Negative Design
Kool, we'll be looking forward to those pics

Got my default site up...Its a low budget ISP account so dont complain..lol

I bought and returned 4 different digital camaras. I started with a cheap 1.3 mp camara, complete ****. Went onto a 2 mp digital camara also ****. Next was a 4 mp camara, sucks in dark situations and takes like 10 minutes to load up energy for the flash. Next was a 320 x 240 webcam, provides the best results lol.
Negative Design
what cam would that be? lol
got any examples?
mikekniner
Nova DC 1 was the 1.3 mp
Nova DV 2L was the 2.0 mp
Casio QV-R40 was the 4.0mp
and a logitech quick cam pro was the webcam.
Don't have any samples for ya sorry. But ill tell ya they looked like ****, or I just don't have any luck with digital camaras.
Negative Design
I see,I've had a webcam and it...well it doesnt even deserve a comment..lol

my current **** cam is better...
I don't we we have bad luck with digi cams...we just need to buy from better companies...I never heard of nova and Casio is goos for pianos and watches not camera lol

my next camera will be an olympus or sony..I'm still waiting on those auctions...hopefully they go right :D

ND-
Negative Design
wow...maybe you weren't using it right Mike. These are pics form teh R40 and they look amazing!

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2003...40_samples.html

Perhaps, I was using it indoors. Film Camaras are the best lol
Negative Design
Good point! lol
I'd get a film cam but im "conservative" (NOT CHEAP!! :p) and I dont want to keep buying film :).

Hello Guys: I'm using a 3,2 MPix Fuji Finepix S602Z and it is great. Manual settings inclusive full motion video capability (640 x 480, 30 frames/second).
Price is falling because of following newer Models with higher resolution but same optical features (6 x optical, 4 x digital zoom, means: 210 up to 340 mm focal length). With my TCOn 17 Teleconverter from Olympus, I've got a 357 mm Tele.

It's great in handas an has semi-professional features.

Look at my Pictures in the Forum and the listet link in my latest thread.

Neg,

If you only need an occasional picture you can get by without a digital camera if you have an old 35 mm around. You will need a tripod though to take good pictures in a dark room regardless of the type of camera that you have. You can get 35mm developed on a CD in jpeg for only about 5-6 USD at a lot of 2 hour photo places. It's less convienient but you can get good to better results than with a digital camera.

Hezz
Negative Design
5-6$$ for every shot...no way lol
besides I just bought a Kodak 2.3 MP cam...I hope this will do :)
But im sure its better than my old DC-T23 ****..lol

ND-
Hezz
Neg,

No it's 5-6 USD for the whole CD which is the whole roll of film. 24-36 pictures and they are higher resolution than the digital cameras.

Hezz
Negative Design
yes but i have to pay each time I need a new roll and I have to pay to get it on cd.

digis is way easier..and more importanlty..CHEAP! lol :)
dracul
I would have to vote for digital photo also.
Its way easier especially for hairs, scratches, dust and **** you constantly got to fight with in the film world.

Id like to invest in this someday:
http://www.adorama.com/catalog.tpl?...ils&sku=INKD100

Good for pretty much anything.
Negative Design
woow thats OVERKILLL...its like taking a B2 Bomber to a fist fight...lol

I seen a D10 EOS in action ...and it looks much like a 2.1 MP...It was taken indoors and of a projected image...not too pretty..
Maybe it was because of the compression if so then whats the point og having a Hi Rez Cam if you cants get the full quality you payed for..lol

ND-
Negative Design
hey guys do you think this tripod is suitable? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...item=2985250836

I just won a auction for a Sony P32 :) comes with all acc. and stuff too its 3.3 MP I will post some pics when I get it.

Oh yeah before that I bought a Kodak LS420...but it was broken...it was sold as is...oh well i took a chance :-/

oh yeah P.S do you think i can aim with that tripod?

THX,
ND
faithblinded
Hey bro those are junk tripods. If you just want a mini tripod I'd reccomend something a little higher quality, so you can at least position the camera pointing where you wany.
Check this out, these are some of the nicest table tripods u can get for cheap :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&category=30096
Good luck.

ooh thanks man! :)
hey go to aol lets chat
Amra
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/p31.html

That is the camera I own, I bought it for $200, but it can be had for much cheaper now, Im sure you can find it within your $150 budget. I have been very pleased with it. The only think I dont like is that the zoom is all digital, no optical zoom. This may not sound like a problem, but any photographer will tell you that Digital zoom is useless, and they are right. Other then that (i dont use zoom anyways, because I know what the word 'crop' means ;) ) it is a great camera, the colors are beautiful, the quality is great...
Negative Design
Hi Amra, Nice cam man :)
Actually my 150$ limit went down I decided to search for a cam that 100$ or 120$ shipped, And that Sony P32 I got was 100$ shipped with batteries charger usb cable and more :D Now I'm looking for a super cheap mini tripod with aim function.

Yeah I agree Zoom isnt necessary,But if you ever need it I think u can buy a optical zoom lens or something...
Negative Design
hey guys I jsut got my camera today :)
and this one WORKS! lol here are soem pix for those who are interested...:)

the nemo pic sucks becuase no tripod yet ...my tripod should be here tomorrow :)

heres the link )
http://mysite.verizon.net/vze7uh2k/id5.html
Amra
Very nice, but the pictures are awfully small. Did you resize them that small on purpose?
Negative Design
yeah they are compressed the files are too big to leave untouched....I cant even post them on this site :(

those pix are too dark I will try to find my exposure options, the images look way beter in person :)
