First post for me, although ive been reading these forums on and off for a year. I am really getting serious now.
I decided on a 15" lcd because of the better contrast ratios and response times. I wish there were a good 14" to use but the Mag just doesn't seem fast enough, especially if i wanna do gaming. Anyways I can't find some of the more famous lcd models around here (US), except some of the very expensive ones. I want to try and keep costs down as much as possible. Ive had my eye on this one at newegg.

Problem is I don't know if it can be stripped. I've read about many that have been stripped, but I haven't found something with a good bang for the buck. (dohh i hate that expression) didn't i hear the cmv1515 being had for $250USD? Anyways i got my eye on a 1555v as well, but the specs on that one at newegg rock for the price, just not sure if i'm brave enough to risk buying a non stripable lcd. I have no need for another regular computer monitor if it doesn't work. Guess i could resell it on Ebay.
Anyways any links to good deals on higher contrast and low response in the US? if i could spend 250 + shipping on a 400:1 and 35ms or lower response I would love it. Of course it need to be stripable. (is that a word?)
I just want to thank everyone for their contribution to this forum. I have learned a lot and will hopefully have a nice diy projector thanks to all of you.

| i say you try to strip the monitor. check the ebay deal section cause i put up a good deal for a known diy-able lcd. check the specs though, to see if it is what you need. we need more monitors on the list! take a chance!;) |

auction was over already...
ohh well, I think it has a lower contrast ratio anyways.
I got my eye on a 1555v on ebay, if i miss that one I may just try the one on newegg. Any impressions on the 1555v?
Thanks

yea i would jump on that LiquidVideo NEG A150X1 if it was really the same as the cmv 1515, but i think it was found to have a much lower contrast ratio, so how could it be the same? Now that I think about it, it did look pretty good compared to the NEC 1545. Choices Choices.
also that SCEPTRE i found on newegg says its 400:1 cr, but other sites selling it are saying 350:1. AHHHH
Sometimes the more you read the tougher decisions get. Anyways thanks for the help tyler |
