Happy New Year!!!

hey all!

i've spent prolly 3 weeks researching this topic, but still have two (for now ) q's:

for those of u that have knowledge of the psone lcd; input from ps1 = RGB, has composite in via mini plug, output s-video to tv, but is there any way to pump s-video directly to the lcd??? i've seen many diagrams, pinouts, "vga hack", etc, but i can't get it to work-

any ideas?!?!?!?!?!?!

also, i was going to try using these halo's w/ a reflector-lightgun-thingy. does anyone know if i should use an IR or UV filter, really don't want to cook the lcd! (BTW, they're 500w each)

thankz, and happy projecting!

i wouldn't use them , they get to warm and they are not a point light source (it's a long filament that glows), its difficult too get an evenly lit out picture with these , and they are , in the long run , probably more expensive then a metal halide setup (250w should be fine compared to 500 watt halogen)

I would think If you wanted something like that RGB would be easier since there is already vga.

yeah, i know about the lights, but halo's are all i can afford right now. $12 for the both of them. they might have a chance, as i was inspired after reading a thread about commercial projector lamps. they weren't going the way your thinking; the end was pointing at the lcd, and it was inside cup-shaped reflector. i'll try to find the pic again. the reflector focused most of the light at the lcd. anyway, do you think i need a IR/UV filter? i can't afford another lcd, so i'm taking as many precautions as possible!!!

thankz

found the thread: "Commercial Lamps" and pic.

as for the video, i have a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 w/ s-video out. the included software allows me to run 2 different desktops (and monitors?), w/ many controls. i'm hoping this will make the image on the lcd half-way decent :D . so s-video would be optimal for me, will settle for composite if its decent (have already got this to work on lcd), as for RGB will have to dig a little deeper to see if i can run 2 monitors, not only a monitor + TV.

right now i have a 20" tv as my second monitor, w/ an s-video connection. i can either clone the computer monitor, or extend the desktop to the TV; which is how i watch my movies. WinDVD outputs fullscreen to a secondary device. i want to do all this w/ the lcd instead of the TV.

it inputs RGB + composite, and outputs s-video. it should be able to input it as well?! :headbash:

i dunno, gonna have a smoke and ponder...

with 500watts of halogen power thats enough to cook a chicken , its the same as an oven as in temps, definatley use a ir filter with that setup and i would segest a uv filter also to stop the lcd from fading and a small amount of the heat.

cook a chicken? cool... dinner and a movie!!! :D seriously tho, should i back down on the watts? the halo's are rated at 9500 lumens (or so they say), thought that was pretty good, and w/ a reflector, should be even better! was going to use some glass to separate the light + lcd anyway, keep the heat away.

new marketing idea- LCD projector/chicken cooker hmmmmmm... :tilt:
