| im sure all here know of cruser, well he has quite a few designs where the box leading from his light source to his lcd is covered in mylar, but there is the possibility of mylar melting, i want to know if this design would work by replacing this mylar box with a mirror box, at my local hardware store i can get a bathroom mirror for $1 per square inch, im getting one for my basement bathroom thats 40x40" for $40, my table saw can easily cut this, so if this were to replace the mylar box, would it be as reflective or less reflective? |

yes you could use mirrors no problem
what blade do you have in your tablesaw thats gonna gut glass?
anyways the mylar i was usin is 98% reflective to be that reflective your gonna pay some serious cash for mirrors
first off they would have to be first surface and very high quality to match 98% reflective surface
and 1 thing i did notice using mirrors in my light box was they absorb some serious heat and hold it for a long time after the bulb was off
if your not using it for a reflector near the bulb mylar is the way to go
not to mention the weight difference (mirror = mylar+plexi X 10) |
