im sure all here know of cruser, well he has quite a few designs where the box leading from his light source to his lcd is covered in mylar, but there is the possibility of mylar melting, i want to know if this design would work by replacing this mylar box with a mirror box, at my local hardware store i can get a bathroom mirror for $1 per square inch, im getting one for my basement bathroom thats 40x40" for $40, my table saw can easily cut this, so if this were to replace the mylar box, would it be as reflective or less reflective?
cruser
yes you could use mirrors no problem
what blade do you have in your tablesaw thats gonna gut glass?
anyways the mylar i was usin is 98% reflective to be that reflective your gonna pay some serious cash for mirrors
first off they would have to be first surface and very high quality to match 98% reflective surface
and 1 thing i did notice using mirrors in my light box was they absorb some serious heat and hold it for a long time after the bulb was off
if your not using it for a reflector near the bulb mylar is the way to go
not to mention the weight difference (mirror = mylar+plexi X 10)

well that settles it mylar for me, thanx cruser
