Hi Fritz,
As your Sony was before the introduction of Sony's bitstream converters I believe the frequency is 16.9344MHz.
But you have to locate the crystal anyway if you want to do the clock mod. The crystal looks like a small flattened metallic cylinder. Usually the frequency is printed on it, at least partially.
Hope this helps,

Hi Elso,

Unfortunately the thing is packed so tight you cant read the side of the crystal so I may have to remove it to read the package. Woud I be removing the crystal anyways for a clock mod. ie is this were an external clock wires in?

THanks

Hi Fritz,
Yes, one of the two pads of the crystal is used to connect the clock. Yes the crystal has to be removed anyway.
