I just acquired a Luxman PD-290 turntable. Any opinions on whether I should keep this or my old Thorens TD 320?

Difficult to say, not familiar with the PD-290,
can't find any information on it either.

Some information on one version of the TD 320:

Drive system Thorens belt drive
Voltage supply 16 V from external power supply
Speeds 33 and 45 rpm
Motor 24-pole synchronous motor with 2-phase generator
Platter 30 cm / 31 kg Zamak-alloy
Wow and Flutter < 0. 035 %
Rumble > 72dB
Dimensions (WxHxD) 440 x 170 x 350 mm
Weight 11 kg
Tonearm TP 90 Effective length. 228 mm
Effective mass 17 gr.
Anti-skating frictionless with magnetic force
Shut-off opto-electronic
Capacity of signal leads 140 pF

I'd be temped to fit another arm on the Thorens,
don't know where the 31kg platter came from - you wish !

Sorry - no opinions re your question. But I'm looking for a schematic/cct diagram for a PD-291 (direct drive, automatic turntable). Did you get one with your's?
