I promised i'd post pics of my burn pile before we set the torch to it... this is a teaser. I'm waiting for a spell of 3 or 4 days of rain before i burn and the pile is still growing from when i snapped these (2 weeks ago).
(the car in the background is my brother's and wind & a tree top finally got it into shape so he could talk my dad into letting him have it hauled away for scrap)
The reference figure is 6'.

Impressive but here in Belgium we would get a large fee for burning a pile like that in the open. ;)

Hi Dave,
Is the pile mostly comprised of speaker cabinets? If it is that is one hell of a lot of projects ;)
Regards,
Tony. |

As long as we burn the little pile and slowly add the big pile to it (took 3 days last time) i don't need to get a permit. I'm also out in the country with no visible neighbors also helps.

Mostly speakers -- although there is the requisite couch in there too -- from my recycling biz... the alnico & the best of the ceramic goes up on eBay. The stuff i have no interest in gets donated to a school for speaker building 101, and i'm still left with far too many drivers -- if anyone is looking for a Frugal-phile(tm) speaker project i probably have something for you :) I also end up with a lot of singles waiting for mates.
What didn't get into the pile makes shelving units, tables (my packing table is left-overs from 6 Dyna A25s), and an occasional set of good cabinets (a rarity) gets recycled into Frugal-phile(tm) speaker cabinets.

Dave,
How do you get that thing to start burning after 3 days of rain?
:devilr:
...that is a good idea though, can't wait to see the pics :)
(3/4's of what's in my garage could join that pile!!)

Kerosene or diesel fuel are wonderful choices since they longer, have a higher viscosity, and a higher flash point than gasoline. My uncle uses it (diesel) on his farm to start piles of wet leaves on fire in the fall. |

that's a pretty cool resource he's offering... and that is some
beautiful wood... my brother would love to make some furniture
out of that hardwood!
...Dave, shouldn't you guys have snow up there by now? |

No... we are in the part of Canada that gets almost no snow. So far this year we have woken up to snow on the ground once... but it was gone before breakfast. Typically we have snow on the ground for between 2 days & 2 weeks (not ususally 2 weeks continuous)

| If you get the burn in early enough, you might be rewarded this spring with some yummy morels. And I don't mean the Israeli drivers! |
