I got one of these for free today when I delivered a pinball. Guy wanted to get rid of it, it works like a champ, said if I hauled it up his stairs (easy after bringing a pinball down) that I could have it.
So I didn't pass up that deal.
It's very similar, not sure it's the same model yet, haven't even unloaded it from my truck yet.
Anyone know what will happen though if I just project it on a blank wall besides the picture being backwards?

I forgot to mention that my neighbor brought me a new MH bulb, socket, and ballast today. All that for free too.
And the pinball that I delivered I sold for my ask price and the guy didn't even haggle. All this about 2 hours after I took it to my friends garage because he ran an ad in the paper this weekend. First guy to show up bought mine and passed on all his! I'm having a fan-freakin-tastic day! |

looked at the TV last nite... it is the exact same model as the ebay link above.
Anyone have any idea if it would be possible to take the screen or the mirror off and just project on the wall? I know it's not made to do that, but would there be enough play in the convergence to get it to work bigger. I want about 90" |

I dunno but this thing could have some good optics and possibly you may take out them... maybe..
And you could use them for your diy lcd projector project IMO.. |

This thing works 100% and actually puts out a pretty dang good picture... it's a little blurry, but not bad... only notice it when there's small print on the screen.
I don't think I could bring myself to pull something so swanky apart just to scavenge it. The picture from ebay just doesn't do it justice. it's a good picture of what it is... but until you see it in motion, it just isn't as cool. I made a small mpg of it...
well, it's too big to post even zipped up though... it's about 700k. I don't have a good place to host it... If someone has a place to post it, email me, and either I can post it or I can email it back for them to post. |

It is not comparable with a diy lcd projector -IMO- ( you know spectra c and other cheap panels even have 100 - 150 : 1 contrast ratio and nice response times...)
Also, are there any s-video , composite or VGA inputs... or only antenna input...? So, when you connect a ps2 or dvd player could ya get a clear picture?? I don' t think so... |

I know... it ain't exactly the greatest picture, and it kinda looks down at the floor, but still... I can't tear apart something like this... if it was beat up maybe, or if it didn't work, definitely.
I'm sure there are plenty people who would love to just have the screen on it. It's 50" and curved top to bottom and left to right.
Right now, I would rather use my OHP and QA-1650 for projection, but I am going to tinker with this thing for a while.
It has antenna in, coax in for cable, and even composite inputs, along with composit outputs so you could run the stereo signal to a receiver. I don't know if the TV itself is stereo when composite inputs are used, but it is monoaural with antenna signals. I was told that it is from before stereo signals were transmitted on over the air stations, so it has a special circuit in it that creates a stereo effect, but isn't true stereo.
I sent the video to Mr.Kh this morning. He said he could post it somewhere. look for it soon. |

I got one of those for free as well several years ago. You'll notice that the screen is curved so projecting on a flat wall will give you distorted picture. As far as being blurry you need to open it up and switch it to the service mode to adjust sharpness and convergence. It's a fairly simple and strait forward proceedure. The blue cannon on mine was unable to be completely focused but I still had a bigscreen.

I haven't opened it up yet... I don't have a manual either... you say it's pretty easy though? I've been looking around for a manual, and found a few things, but haven't figured out how to pay for them. (by the way, it's a bad business idea to have something for sale on the web with no way to figure out how to make a payment:xeye: )
I'm gonna have to get it in out of the cold garage before I can really mess with it too much though. Don't want to be turning it on and creating heat that will create condensation in there. |

I like so much to its opening mechanism
This thing is just like a f..ked CRT projector :D ( I have seen red and blue lights , just nice : )
picture looks quite bright -even in half clarified room?- |

Thanks for posting the vid for me Mr. Kh.
you're correct about the brightness. It is pretty bright, but I don't know how bright a CRT projector like this is supposed to be. It may have something to do with that screen too (I found a site that had replacement screens for sale for a mere $636 by the way)
The video was shot in my garage, with the garage light on... there's a full length flourescent fixture hanging directly above it that is turned on. |
