First of all i don't know if that's the correct place to post this...
Anyway i would like to build a VU meter... I've bought a LM3914 but after i've looked that the logaritmic 3dB for eah led were the LM3915.. Anyway my "problem" is this.. What do u suggest for a VU meter to use for a car stereo?
A VU meter that u've tested naturally! :)
Thanx in advance!

Either the LM3916; or one of the Velleman kits which is a LOT easier than wiring an LM391x.

This may be a stupid question as well, but what is the difference between the 3915 and the 3916. I know the 3914 is linear and the 3915 is log, but what is the 3916? The 3915 says it has a 3db/ LED scale, but there is no scale description on the 3916. The datasheets have an almost identical description. Both can be used as a line level display showing the full range. Can anyone at least tell me why someone would choose one of these over the other?
