nice :)
however i would like to know shipping cost. Is the store located in china? shipping to europe will probably be expensive...
and i can't read whatever language it is :D |
|
|
| nmd_sb |
its Korean,
they seem to have all the parts needed for a DIY proj, even a small LCD, i think its 6.4", and its dirt cheap. only shipping i assume would be expensive.
We could fit everything inside a ATX aluminum case. :) |

This is a ballast i think ? for 150 W to 250W
not very very cheap though -> the 250W variant cost 47000 won, which is 33 euro's -> 39 dollar (still inexpensive :) )
shipping cost would probably be quite high since it is almost at the other side of the world :) at least for me.
and can you actually use it on the local electricity net here in Europe? (220V)
A Metal Halide lamp, or fresnel lens, you better buy in a shop closer to you since it has to live true the shipping :) |

250W HQI ballast cost $109-$150 in US. So I would say it is very cheap. And there is a ~$15 one. but looks much bulkier |

the $105 -$150 hqi ballast is electronic while the bulkier one is magnetic, thats why its $15 lol by the time u add a cap, and a ignitor probally $25, im using a magnetic and i dont have any noise or flicker with it but mines only 150w, for a 250w ive heard noise and flickering symtoms so i guess its a risk u have to take, but yet in europe ive heard others with a magnetic ballast and no noise and flickering, maybe its got somthing to do with u guys in the us having a lower voltage and higher current draw mains power.

##,### won is Korean dollars then use a currency calculator to convert to euro or us dolla.
this is the shop all those korean DIYers got their parts from to do those cool DIY PJs we saw pics of while ago.
I am trying to get my korean friend to translate the site, but he is such a lazy *** |

The condenser/reflector assembly is particularly interesting.
Maybe it could be a nice idea to organize a group buy for the LCD panel if it does the job AND someone is actually able to get in touch with them. :) |

Plus, we(Diypro.net) have lot a kind of projector.
As I know in here people useally make projector with OHP and LCD projection panel.
Long time ago, we did that but it's too dark and agly.
That's why we make projector other way.
Like this

Very glad to hear from you. I would guarantee lots of people would be interested in the products on the website. I am one. In fact I sent an email a few days ago inquiring the light frame and ballasts. It's near imposible to find pre-assembled light frames in USA. I know one company does it in China, but not as elegant.
We may set up a group buy to reduce the shipping cost.
Looking forward to seeing the english version of your website! |

If you just sold the parts for that I would buy it. That is a great design. I have much rather have a tall projector than a big ugly box horizontal.
Does diypro have a estimate of how much the "movie tower" would cost minus cost of wood. I live next to a home depot so I would want all the things except that. I wouldnt mind the assembly of that at all.
Thanks! |

| The objective projection lens looks huge does it not? Also looks like there is only one fresnel before the lcd and nothing on the other side? |
|
|
| wheaton |
Well yes it does look huge... however the results are nice. Looks like it has edge to edge brightness at even levels. There is probably some room for tweaks but it looks nice to me. Maybe somebody could lay out plans for this in english and list the parts necessary. I really do like the tower type design. Which could be made more decorative even..
I know the concept of making a projector decorative might sound strange to some but it might be appealing to others..
Hope the english site is up soon. Best I can tell they have good prices... |

yep, i bet u any money its plastic, and was found on ebay where the rest of the round big screen tv kits are found, if that thing was glass it would be top heavy and cost a fortune, it has to be a frensel in a tube, the image then just bounces off of the mirror and out through the square hole onto the screen.

Hello Kim,
I think many of us are interested in making our projectors smaller, if you can show us the plans and parts used in creating ATX size projectors it will be greatly appreciated. Plus your prices for your parts are just within our budgets.
Hope to hear more from you. |

The results from that huge beast are great... but it doesnt have to be that big! No reason for it. I agree with Ace, this is no better then building your own box.
... and here I thought my projector was big :) |
|

I would like to know if anybody has a good list of parts to use and plans (size of parts and diagrams etc)
I want to build a projector but Im most afraid of making the box to small or too. Or maybe not putting the pieces in with the right spacing.
I would like to get good plans for doing this. Price isnt as much as an issue.
My dream goal would be native 1280x1024 but I would settle for 1024x768. Size isnt as much of an issue for me.
If anybody knows of links to the materials (except for what I can get at home depot) and plans I would be most appreciative so I can get my project started.
Thanks |

this is my first post...i read through most of your site here and kinda stopped on this... I am torn between that design (post above mine) and waiting for ace3000 to release his plans so that I can either buy them or buy parts from him.
very cool stuff guys.
I am into the xbox scene myself, and me and a few friends have become very interested in this project...you guys have a great resource here :D! |

Hello.
Thuis is my first Post on this Forum.
I came from the german Forum www.DIY-Community.de
My site www.Beamerbau.de (Translated: Beamerbuilding) is not active yet. www.Curiosum.net is the same site
When will they completely have the translation of the Shop.
I would know gladly, what gives it everything.
Do you know the manufacturers of the individual parts?
Those would interest me all.
Greetings,
Tobias Claren |

| I could have sworn I saw a lcd kit that had a 800:1 contrast ratio. It was on one of the diy sites going around the forum. Anyone know what I am talking about it? |
|
|
| wout |
why would you want 800:1 ??
i don't think you notice any difference above 250:1 ... |
|
|
| jcbklyny |
... Huh, your telling me you cant see a difference above a 250:1 contrast ratio? Do you wear glasses?
If so, it's time for a thicker set :) |
|
|
| dracul |
LOL. Yeah you can tell the difference.
FYI, movie theaters have excellent contrast due to the great contrast of film emulsion puts out. Ever since video and television was invented, video has been trying to match the contrast of film. The video guys still got a ways to go. There is no tv set, CRT, monitor or anything video that can match the contrast of film emulsion. So now, what do you think contrast ratio is with film?
If you watch an imax film in the theater the contrast will look even better. This however is because the negative has more detail per size magnification compared to 35mm negative to 50 foot normal movie screen blowup.
So I am also guessing a higher rez lcd should show more contrast than a lower rez one. |
|
|
| Video Freak |
| Contrast ratio of film I would guess in the 10's of thousands or even 100's of thousands. Thats just a Guess.:D  |
|
|
| vampman |
Film contrast ratio is about 1000 to 1.
The color depth is 1024 log for each channel of color. |
