what do you guys use as a Pre amp for the gainclone as we know it here on DIYaudio or do you use another directsource such as cd player or dvd player with volume controle ?

| depends on if i'm using active filtering or not. if i use active filtering then sure, not much reason not to use it. if it's just an amplifer without need of a balenced input buffer or any processing, i'd just use a non-inverting amplifer with suitable pot. |

| My IGC just has a built in stepped attenuator and selector switch which acts as a passive preamp section. My CD player has a volume control which I use to take the output to very low levels if necessary. |
