A DIY soundserver. - Click HERE for Original Thread
SuppersReady
This is a complementary thread to the home automation one athttp://diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16311

Is it possible that a soundserver could be created by this forum. I won't pretend to understand the inner workings of these devices, but they appear from magazine descriptions to be a set of hard drives with a control interface and relevant audio circuitry. If a house already has a computer network installed then remote access and programming surely wouldn't be to cumbersome. And building a suitable computer server would surely be a lot cheaper than the retail offerings.

Any thoughts

Hi Paul,

This is a similar subject to the WAV jukebox that I was suggesting in this thread:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/show...8&highlight=wav
It matters not what the chosen file format is; mp3, wav, monkey etc.

Of couse it's all there on practically any PC, but I want a simple interface, not a mouse and keyboard. AND I want no fans.

Cheers,
