Gainclone Impedance - Click HERE for Original Thread

I have a passive preamp already which is best when matched to a power amp with >50k impedance. What is the impedance of a gainclone and can it be raised to >50k if necessary?

Your advice would be much appreciated

Yes it can. But not very suitable in the 'inverted' mode which many prefer soundwise. In the standard non-inverting mode there are absolutely no problems. In the inverting mode a 50k input resistance means at least 1mohm fb resistor for a minimum gain of x20 and 1.5Mohm for a more conventional gain of x30. No idea how stable the offset will be. Of course there will be slightly more noise as well. You're in a bit of a 'catch 22' situation here.

cheers
