problem with gainclone - Click HERE for Original Thread

i just got my boards in for my gainclone project, and i threw one together, and i measured the voltage and got 35V. this seems really high. im using a 24V transformer.

i an unable to get it to play anything at the moment either. it can hum, but thats it. no music comes though it. any ideas anyone? im using peter's schematic, and i have gotten two of these to work previously, but since then, i have built 3, and none of them work? are the transformers too high of voltage?

what chip are you using? check, double check and check again the parts and the connections....

lm3875.

its such a simple design, its almost impossible to mess up! could someone explain to me (like i was an idiot), how you wire up the power? from the wall to the board (or chip)? im using a bridge rectifier now.

Cowanrg - are you using a transformer with 24V secondaries? If so your rail voltage will be around 35V! (Secondary voltage X 1.414)

As regards wiring up the PSU, take a look at my GC FAQ page .

i figured it out. i didnt notice that the board had to be grounded as well. i connected the board to the star ground, and all worked fine. thanks everyone.

I'm trying to track down a hum in my new project. Can you clarify what you mean by grounding the board?
