:bawling: I am wanting to put a display on my preamp that will read out the source but I would like it to be blue, but where do i get these blue displays?
I have searched and only found blue numbers or graphics displays requiring programming.
Please anyone who knows how to put a display in a preamp please help!! |

Here's my suggestion :
Since LCD display require to be controlled by either a CPU, a microcontroller or a FPGA I suggest to use a simple PIC 16F84 to control the LCD display in 4 bit mode. This is probably the cheapest way to achieve your goal.
Take a look here :

If you have any further questions, don't hesitate !

the PIC 16F84?
okay i see 2 things that come up, the chip and then there is a programing device that is simplistic and low cost that just plugs into the printer port. |

thats what you need. you will also need the software for your pc, i would advise the free MPLAB from www.microchip.com also, MPASM to compile the code. a good tutorial for programming is here: www.winpicprog.co.uk and the two documents here (file one) and here (file two) are information about using LCD screens, very useful. they are both PDFs. |

| yes, digikey stocks noritake vfd. i think i have enough info to look over thanks. I will try and keep you all up to date! vfd is much better looking than lcd right! I also don't want to spend so much time trying to program my display and then have it look just average, any tips with the noritake would help thanks.;) |
