massive ac on supply caps - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am using a 25 0 25 transformer for my ps. For some reason I am getting 75v ac on each rail and 145 accros +and -. I am aslo getting the dc of 35v each rail. The odd thing is I am still getting the ac when the amp is unplugged. Does anyone have any idea why this is the case. I am using two rectifiers one for each rail.

Sounds like you are measuring incorrectly. 35V would be the expected no-load voltage for 25-0-25...I am guessing the circuit is fine but you are measuring wrong.

If you need more help I would specify how you are trying to measure.

Have you wired up the transformer for 240V input, or 120V input, as this would explain the high voltages if you had it set for running at 120V. What you will probably have is two sets of primary windings on the transformer, which should be conected in series rather than parallel for running at 240V.
