Broken OHP? Need some help! - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi, I recently purchased an Elmo HP-A305 Solar "DX" on ebay and the bulb is burnt out. I know I need a new bulb, but what I'm wondering is this. If my bulb is burnt out, should my fans be turning on when I flip the power switch? Or is there a safety mechanism inside to prevent that from happening?

I ask this because when I turned on the OHP, the bulb flashed burning out, but the fan started right with the bulb flash. And now when I flip the power on, nothing happends at all (no fan movement).

Also, when I was inspecting the insides of the projector, I broke the condenser glass (though it was already cracked :dead: ). If anybody could tell me where I could find new glass, or if I can simply use some glass from a window store or something of the like, that would be helpful :)

Thanks in advance!

Im the resident dumbass but im guessing the fan isnt coming on because the lamp is burnt out, no heat needs no cooling. I also dont think you need a condensor but im not sure what the inside of your ohp looks like so i could be wrong, I do know they help alot but it seems like it would still work with out it.

My 3m fans come on without a light...perhaps it shorted out or something? But then again, it would probably be best to hear from somone with the same OHP.

Well I have my A305-SD for 2 days nows, did some testing.

For what I saw.. the fans seems to work only if it's too hot. I mean, if I turn it up and stop it after 10 secs, the fan stops. If I let it run for 5 minutes and turn it down, the light turn off but the fan continue to run for about 2-3 minutes after.

I don't know but maybe there's a heat sensor in there.

Yeah, still don't know:scratch: On the subject of heat sensor, I know the DX model does, as said by the data sheet at Elmo-corp.com. But I think that's just thermal protection for shut down. So again, I'm stuck

Well, I still don't know about the bulb/if the OHP is working...but my local glass store said they could make me the condensor.

Basically now my options are bite the bullet and go buy a new bulb (without knowing if it will work, $100 is a lot), or see if anybody here can answer my questions.

I e-mailed Elmo almost 2 weeks ago, and no reply as of yet. So I really need help! (I hope I'm not coming off bold and/or abrasive ;) )

Thanks!
