One of the Nat Semi guys put an application note on the power supply he uses for demonstrating the performance series of drivers -- nicely thought out with all of the pcb drawings:

First thing I noticed was the RC/Zobel in the power supply: "to decouple the large electrolytic capacitors and reduce impedance."

You suppose they read the forums?

National does seem to lower the threshold in their recent publications.
Imho they haven't gone so far as TI, but the trend is noticable.

At least the marketing people read the forums. And then they use their half-knowledge to put pressure on the working people (engineers and application note authors) and mess around with everything, which is what they think they get paid for. Read Dilbert about details.
