MPSA18= (Replacement) 2N5551 or BC550c

Generic transistors work fine. The MPSA18 is a high gain device,
but anything over 100 will work. |

BC550 hfe 270 > 520
2N5551 hfe 50 > 200
In your case the BC 550 will be fine.
