Hi,
that circuit is visually balanced but in reality is not balanced.
The safety of having the blocking caps in both Live and Neutral lines is reduced compared to having all the blocking in either the Live line or in the Neutral line.
It is better to have interference suppression fitted at source than to apply filters at the inputs to your equipment.
Ensure all you domestic equipment is properly suppressed. |

hi andrew..thanks for your help..and i wanna ask something again..there is several mkps here in shops..
philips mkp X2 100n
arcatronics 100n
roederstein 100n
hitano 100n
i dont know about these capacitors..also i had wima mks but i think its not reliable for audio..which one should i buy ?or can you advice another one?it must be hi-end filter for expensive tube amps..
thanks a lot |

| The capacitors across live and neutral must be X or Y rated. This circuit is nothing to do with audio as it's connected to the power supply, the mains at that, so ignore audio caps. |

philips mkp X2 100n | the philips X2 is rated for connection between Live and Neutral.
Do not use anything that is not rated for mains use.
Must be X rated for Live to Neutral.
Must be Y rated for Line (Live and/or Neutral) to Earth. |

| should i also connect one more 100n capacitor between live to earth(not neutral) ? like this picture |

It is better to use two Yrated caps, one from Live to Earth and the other from Neutral to Earth. |

| hi..sorry but i dont know what is X and Y rated capacitors..is it a specification ? there is not wima Y capacitors here in my country |

In EU countries you cannot connect 100n to earth like that, usually 4.7nF is the most you can allow.
I'm sure X and Y rated caps must be available in Turkey, they are very common indeed and mandated for mains use in all EU countries. Don't restrict yourself to Wima, although I have a feeling I have some Wima X2 rated caps somewhere. |
