Recommendations for TO-92 5V reg IC - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi guys!

Perhaps someone out there has done some homework on which of the TO-92, 100mA regulators are good? I usually default to National parts for regulators, but would like to get an opinion on the matter. I need +9,+5,-5,-9 all in this same format, so... any help would be appreciated.

Well I believe the LM78XX/79XX come in to-92 and so do the LM317/337 adjustable regulators...I"m sure there are others but these are the ones I see most often...

Cheers

yes, I realize that. I was more interested in a specific (brand, model, etc.) part that might perform better than the rest.... just didn't want to hunt through all those datasheets comparing tiny numbers if someone else had done the work :)

I believe the differances in different brands (Fairchild, analogue devices, TI, ect) would be so minor as to not really affect the overall performance or be worth the trouble of sifting through numerous datasheets to find infentesimal differances in perameters between manufacturers...

as long as you get genuine parts from reputible manufacturers/distributers then I believe you should be OK...

Just watch out for fakes as i have inadvertantly bought fake Regulators before which were so far off spec that they allmost made the curcuit they were used in Non-Functioning...Like haveing 15v regulators that put out 12.5v for pos and 17v for neg.....

Cheers
