Convert Gerber to HPGL - Click HERE for Original Thread
Circlotron
Hi all. Does anyone know where I can get a free program to convert Gerber files to HPGL files. I am using Protel 99SE and it will not drive a pen plotter and I want to use one to plot resist ink directly onto a pcb.

I don't want to change to another pcb drawing program.

I don't want to use some kind of laser printer based method.

I do want to use a plotter.

Take a look at GerbView:

http://www.softwarecompanions.com/gerbview.html

Not actually free, but 30 day free trial without restrictions. Distributed as shareware, pay $79.00 for a single user.

Claims:

GerbView can export to the following Formats:

* Gerber RS274X.
* HPGL/2.
* Autodesk DXF, multi-layer conversion supported.
* Autodesk DWF, multi-layer conversion supported.
* Adobe Postscript.
* Adobe PDF (Acrobat), multi-layer conversion supported.
* CGM Binary.
* Windows Metafile.
* Windows Enhanced Metafile.
* Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). Compressed/Uncompressed.

No mention of making .plt files, but HPGL/2 might get it done.

They have ViewCompanion Pro which converts my .plt files into AutoCad .dxf files, then with AutoCad you can modify etc. and save it as .dwg.

Long way around, but works just fine.
