Hdmi vs optical? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Someone said optical can’t do the real high definition audio and hdmi could
Is that true?
I thought the bandwidth of optical exceeded an electric signal.

TOSLINK only has a bandwidth of 15 megabits per second.

TOSLINK uses LED drivers and cheap plastic fiber.

a laser source and glass optical fiber will of course be much higher bandwidth and cost.

Toslink can do 24/192 stereo. Which is plenty high definition.
