Has anyone employed gas coupling to provide a desired voltage drop from the plate to the grid of the tube in the next stage?

You mean with a neon bulb? Yes. Noisy, but it works.

I was thinking VR tube

Would't a VR tube keep the voltage constant and therefore
block the signal as well?
Rolf. |

No, the VR tube keeps the voltage drop across it constant. If there's always (say) 100V between anode and cathode, as the anode moves up a volt, so does the cathode.

O yes of course:blush:
