Is it safe to use a Japanese-market 100V/50Hz power supply on a 120V line? I wouldn't think that a 20% overvoltage would be harmful, would it?

I'd probably get a step down. I have the service manual in electronic form here and will send it if you like so you can decide for yourself. There are 3 or 4 different voltages out of the beast, one at about 124V, so there may be some issues.

Maybe EC8010 will chime in as he seems to know a thing or two about them. I sold my last SP10 just recently.

Hello,

Voltage on the western half on honshu also comes in 60 cycles so I wouldn't
worry about frequency, but I wouldn't go over 10% voltage wise.

Considering the MKIII is all about the power supply, I would also suggest you get a step down.

enjoy, it is a great turntable, now back to the old MKII

best regards

Don't forget that the AC also has a tolerance; the 120V are not written in stone. Indeed if I remember correctly they're allowed to vary by 10% or so.

Get a step up.

No point in putting an expensive turntable at risc.

Have fun, Hannes

Brett,

That would help a good deal and will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John
