onkyo tx-nr901 center channel output not working - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi,

I am having some problems with my onkyo TX-NR901 receiver. The audio output through the center channel is very low in comparison to the left and right front speakers. I checked the wiring and the hookup along with the settings in the menus. I also noticed that I could get the volume on the center channel back to normal if I turned up the volume on the amp and also increased the settings for the center channel. Once the volume is up, the center channel pops in. Unfortunately the fix is not permanent. Once I turn of the amp for a while, the center channel goes back to the low volume.

I wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on what may be going on and if there is a way to fix it. My guess is its something in the automatic gain control or some circuit that is limiting the output due to a faulty component. Any help or insight would be appreciated!

Most likely a bad/dirty relay.

Thanks for the idea. That sounds like it might be the problem. Does it make sense that it starts working once I increase the volume to a fairly high level? Also is there an easy way to clean one of those relays, or is the best option to just replace it?

Thanks again!

Do you happen to know where I can find a service manual for the receiver?
