Hi,
I've just finished building a darling amp and now I'm looking for some loudspeakers to build. I've got some previous electronic experience when building an amp so it was pretty easy but now, I've never build a speaker before.
any advice?
Is it a good idea to build a fullrange speaker for an amp that gives 3/4Watt a channel?

| Depends on the music. You can build a fullranger out of Fostex drivers that will have decent sound on lots of different music, but for full, loud rock and metal, a P.A. based 3 way will be able to run off of the 3 watts with similar or greater sensitivitys. |

What size room are you using the system in? What type of music is dominant in your library? Also, How loud do you ussually listen? These are some of the questions you'll need to ask yourself when looking for a speaker project.
For general advise though, sensitvity is you friend here. With only 0.75 watts to play with, your going to want to get the most db's for your dollar. As a rule of thumb larger drivers tend to be more sensitve than smaller ones. You are also probably looking at larger cabs too. I've read of good pairings between the darling and the Hammer Dynamics speakers. Depending on room and listening preference though, you may be able to live happily with smaller systems. I wonder if their are others here who have a Darling who can tell us what they've driven with it?
I have always wanted to hear the Darling. I've heard a lot of good things about it. Color me envious. |

Darling amp goes to my bedroom, it's about 20m^2 large. I listen to classical music, lots of electronic music too.
If you want to hear a darling why don't you build one? I've built mine just because I was curious how it sounds. Must say that I pretty much like it :D
I googled Hammer Dynamics speakers, they look great, they're indeed for owners of low powered tube amps but they're 650$ too. I'm not sure what they meant writting "Power requirements- 1 Watt RMS" :confused:

I believe you need your loudspeaker have 95 dB sensibility or more.
Fostex FE168EZ in rear horn is good option.
Fostex FE108EZ have not good sensibity.
