Peerless 12" XLS and 2 x 12" PR's - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi,

I am working on the design for the Peerless 12" XLS and 2 x 12" PR configuration. I am using WinISD, and have simulated a 55 L enclosure with a tuning freq of ~20Hz. (PR massed to 425g - standard).

My question when looking at the various WinISD plots is that it's f3 is at 50Hz when displaying the Transfer function magnitude. The second thing is that Group Delay is quite high, 30ms @ 20Hz.

When reducing the internal volume the group delay is decreased, but the frequency response is greatly affected (with 91dB @ 20Hz - as opposed to 114dB).

What is some advice when choosing the box size. Also, what would be safe to assume the driver volume taken up inside the box (and likewise the PR volume).

Have a look at the application notes at Tymphany on the 12" XLS.

I allow about 2 litres for the 830500 driver and about 0.7 litres for the passive. A bit this way or that isn't going to make too much difference.
