Hi
Well I don't like that big Qg, but diode inside is good...
If you are able to rdive it well, this fet should be good |

You do realise that the limit of the TO220 pakage is 75A right? The die maybe able to handle 169A but not in a TO220 package.
The same thing goes for the IRF3205 that I like but same issuse 75A limit. |

The 1405 can work well if the drive circuit is designed for it. It's definitely not a drop-in replacement in most amps.
Like the 3205 (my FET of choice), it's rated for more current than the continuous current flow that the package can handle. Virtually all electrical components are derated as the temperature increases. If you consider the part to be a 75 amp device (due to the case), it can deliver 75 amps safely at much higher temperatures. The 3205 can be used up to 75 amps up to ~110C. The 1405 can be used to 75 amps up to ~140C. You wouldn't design a power supply that would push them that hard normally but it means they're more likely to survive at high temps when the amp is stressed. |
