Horn for Lowther PM2A - Click HERE for Original Thread

Greetings from Sweden, I like to start my membership at this forum with the following questions.

I have decided to build the J-low and I wonder if there is room for my PM2A driver without doing any changes internally?

Secondly, is there any differences between Medallion Mk2 and J-low in sound quality with a PM2A driver, except maybe for bass?

There is a couple of bass horn with modified Audax 15” that I am thinking of using as a support below 100-150Hz.

Greetings & welcome!

As Horst implies above, why build a large bass-horn for the Lowther when you've got the potential to run dedicated unts for the LF? Keep the XO below 200Hz if possible -if you must XO higher, 500Hz is the least evil. I'd be inclined to get them in front-horns though. They wouldn't be overly large as you'd be handing over relatively high up & you'll get symmetrical loading on the front / rear of the driver diaphram.

I do have a couple of horns, old Lowther design in fibreglass enclosed in a wood box filled with 30 kilos of sand. These sit on a metal stand about 30 cm up from floor level, but they look awful and shout at me a little bit.

I was thinking of something nicer not just for the ears but also for the eyes.

What about O.B? I see a lot of happy listeners how have abandoned traditional speaker solutions and rave about their open baffles.

I am a little confused facing all possibilities.
