Hello,
I'm creating an art project that, for lack of a better term, could be called a sound sculpture. Without getting into too many details about what I'm trying to accomplish, I'd like some advice to insure that it should work from a technical point of view. Please keep in mind that I'm not looking to make a super audiophile hi-fi system (with an amazing soundstage and perfect timbre etc...) but I do want to have nice sound.
I'd like to have a few sources (Macbook, ipod whatever)>passive linestage/preamp (with DACT CT2 attenuator and a quality selector switch)>Trends TA-10 (either one or two as mono)>DIY TQWT Full Range Driver speakers (Fostex 8" or Audio Nirvana 8"). All interconnects would be DIY silver Venhaus style with Cat 5 speaker cables.
Is there any reason a system such as this shouldn't work?
Would I be better off with GC instead of the Trends TA-10?
Thanks for any answers/opinions!

Mostly it's going to depend on how much power you need.
How much do you need? |

| I'd say I need enough power to create a near field listening experience, say an area of 5'x7' or at most 10'x20'. |

| Are the potential electrical components you list above a visible part of your design or is everything hidden? |

| Everything will be visible for the initial tests, should it ever be exposed I might consider hiding the components... why? |

The Trends will do just fine. Modify it and it will be even better. |
