yes, cheap ones from radiohm.
4mm metal shaft and 6mm plastic.

at least such a thing is manufactured, where to buy in small quantaties might prove difficult.
would be nice if the pot was decent quality, any idears?

Sfernice is a Spanish division of Vishay -- they have a series of ganged conductive plastic potentiometers -- Farnell may have them on your side of the pond.
