Hi a'af!

If you strictly take only 20+ orders, I think not all that are interested will show up here, since the price for 20J and 20K is already quite some cash.

Personally I would be interested in

15 pcs 2SK389BL
15 pcs 2SJ109BL

All the best, Hannes

True, it`s quite some cash but these days the price is reasonable and this parts are almost impossible to get anymore in small quantities anywhere.
You`d have to buy several hundrets to get them to this price (supposed You can still get them at all).
It`s time to stock those parts up NOW, before they get as sought after and expensive as rare NOS tubes.

For to all candidate buyer, yes this parts is have GR/BL/V grade.
But i just sale one grade only!! if not BL then V grade for 1000 pieces, so seems no 2 grade/version here...

For instance, if we have BL is just BL grade for 1000 pieces vice versa...

but we have another option!! if we can reach almost 2000 pieces, so we can mix the 2 grade for each 1000 pieces :)

To all of you who are wanting the BL grade instead of the V grade, don't be so picky. The V grade simply has a higher Idss rating. If you don't want to run at a higher current, simply use a larger value source resistor. Then you can make a V grade work exactly the same as a BL grade part. (The converse is obviously not true, which is why the GR grade is not very desirable.)

Just team up and get the V grade parts together. Production on these parts ceased over a year ago. When they are gone, they are gone. If you want some, get them now.

The only other choice is to get the K170/J74 pairs and hand-match them. They will never track quite as well as the monolithic duals, but they will track close enough for all practical purposes. It's just that then you have to spend time matching them.

The K170/J74 pairs are still in production. The monolithic duals were discontinued because the package is obsolete. I was hoping that Toshiba would make an SMT version of the monolithic duals, but they have not done so yet. Maybe if Sony or Pioneer (or Parasound!) places an order for a couple of hundred thousand they would do it.

Quantities have changed :
2SK389BL (6)
2SJ109BL (6)

20 times 2SK389V, but ONLY Violet.
(i'll take more and also J109V if needed)

I'd listen and take the advice of Mr Hansen and Mr Curl, get V grades and get them now.
This may be the last opportunity you'll ever have, and you'll not get them at $6/pc ever again imho.

Added a piccy of a small batch of V grades from a source in Asea, the last V9 Interceptors i managed to find.

When they were still in production, we paid around $2 each for them in quantities of 1000 or so. When we heard they were stopping production, we bought 20,000 of each. This brought the price down to around $1 each, but was obviously a considerable investment. This was compounded by the fact that they were also discontinuing the A1349 and C3381 (same packaging issues). So we spent about $80,000 to get a 10 or 20 year supply.

Hopefully someone will come out with a replacement before we run out.

We have always used the BL parts as availability of the V parts was not as reliable. However, the V parts are preferable in every application I can think of. I would get them now while you can. The asking price is quite reasonable considering the situation. Linear Systems is advertising an equivalent for the K389, but nothing regarding a complementary device.
GRollins
Linear Systems is having production problems with their P-ch product. The last time I was in contact, they were having yield issues. They are well aware that there is pent-up demand for P-ch devices and are doing their best to meet that demand.
When remains to be seen.

Well, I've been waiting for close to 15 years for either them or InterFET to make any sort of true complement. I'll believe it when I see it. In the meantime we still have tens of thousands of the Toshiba parts.

The one that I wished we hadn't missed out on were the NEC FETs, the J44 and K163. In some ways these were even better than the Toshiba parts. And Hitachi made some parts that were even quieter than the long-discontinued J72 / K147 Toshibas.

And I think that John Curl has some other parts that never even made it to production. But at least with the existing J74 / K170 and J103 / K246 Toshiba pairs, some excellent circuits can be built.

Hi again folks,

Actually we already reached 713 pieces, perhaps more in the near time, if we still can not reach 1000 pieces request, i hope we can still go on, but the price is raise a little to US$6.5 each, really i must buy a whole box content of 1000 pieces and the other BOX total is 2000 pieces for both of them.

payment must collect it firstly (and this takes times folks) paypal (PP fee 3%) preffered or via money bank transfer (mail me for further info about this, and the bank charge is on you)

CAUTION : for credit card buyer, must added 3% more for surcharge fee

according to Mr. Hansen, we agreed to the "V" version, so all 2sk389 and 2sj109 is "V" :smash:

shiping and handling is via registered mail and this cost US$6 worldwide until 100 grams

Hope we are all here understand the situation, and goodluck to all of you with this rare parts!! :smash:

dont hesitate to mail me to asking any... will answer properly, but your patient and kindness is a must to me!!

AndrewT
Hi A',
you'll need to buy lots of conductive bags to send them out.
Would be nice if the N & P parts are separately bagged to save excessive handling at our end.
Allow something in your costs, say 3.2% uplift instead of just the 3% paypal fee.
Maousse
OK, so with that S&C charge, I split from Korben69 and order by my own.

And I increase quantities to :
2SK389V (14)
2SJ109V (12)

BTW, I agree with AndrewT for seperate antistatic bags, and the surcharge.

I'll pay by Paypal when asked for payment.
I'm not in a hurry, so I can wait for the 1000 limit to be reached ;)

Cheers,

Unlike MOSFET's, JFET's are not static-sensitive. So while it wouldn't hurt to use static-sensitive bags, it's not really necessary. We've been using them for 12 years and I can't recall ever damaging one with a static discharge.
AndrewT
Hi Charles,
that's good news.
Thanks for looking after our interest.
hifiZen
OK, I'm in for 12 each of the 389V and 109V.

Charles is right, JFETs are quite robust. I store my sorted parts in ordinary plastic organizer trays.

OTOH, I think static protection is worthwhile, if for no other reason than just to establish and maintain good habits. And, ESD does not always result in total failure, it sometimes results in just a subtle performance degradation of the part... Also, I just don't trust the post office. I have nightmares about precious parts running through those automatic mail sorting machines, with some big rubber belt (aka van de graaf generator) zipping each envelope along. Call me paranoid, but for shipping precious cargo like these fets, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

If it's down to cost, I will often wrap things in aluminum foil from the kitchen instead of a proper static bag. Works just as well if not better, and it's cheap!
A'af
Hi again,

Still counted, some member more request, some less but we already reached 800 more pieces :smash:

About the payment, any way of payment is ok, T/T in advance, paypal, instant transfer (western union or moneygram) at least not "extra" works for me or pay like usual, perhaps walter wanna do that in jakarta :D

Many thanks to a lots of expertise advices from Mr. Charles Hansen :) :) :)

To AndrewT: perhaps a 3,2% uplift is nice to me :D yes needs an extra energy to do GB, especially to 2000 pieces!! but we will see later, is it OK DIY'er? :)

To Maousse: pls list once more, how many pieces do you needs, i'm a little confuse :D

To hifiZen: alumunium foil task is already in my head  yes but for sure, i already send many chips worldwide, but just a little complain about packing and shipping, hope this too thanks to remind me ;)

To others: i dont know if i can get another batch, but for this 1000 pieces of both, i already reserved it, we are here already reached 800 pieces, 200 pieces is not much for this rare parts, so if later i said i dont have it more, sorry this over. even now i forgot to reserve for myself!!

Dear All Audio Master

2SK389V & 2SJ109V can replace what FET ?

Jeffry,

this is a group buy thread, not an endless theoretical arguement class on JFET devices.
Waste a lot of time on elementary JFET info and Idss basics and this might turn into a missed train ride.
Just listen to the wiseguy geezers and place an order, only bare in mind that folded cascode stuff requires buying a substantial number.

These dual JFETs can replace other (older dual) JFETs in some cases, but not always.
A JFET does not replace any FET, it's a totally different animal alltogether.
And it certainly does not replace devices with a hundred times higher power dissipation level.
With an easy search at diyA you can find lots of JFET basics, you can even download entire books on (dual) JFETs from the web.
I've been assembling dual JFET circuits for decades, i'll be happy to tell you everything you like to know about them and i'm sure other more prominent ones are too.
But it's much more rational and efficient if you do that somewhere else, not at this thread.

Folks and fellow turds, i've got more and more exotic dual JFETs than most of you will ever see in your life.
A'af not Juang is very pleasant to deal with and V grades are a Bitz to find, don't ponder too much and get them fast/rapide/schnell/rapido/pesat.
