I just acquired an older sound system with the identifying brand info MCS Series 2237. Does anyone know anything more about this unit? Who sold it? When? Where can I get replacement parts?
Thanks for any information.

ask that question at www.audiokarma.org and you will find way more info.

MCS was carried by JC penny. Some stuff was made by technics.

Thanks for the info, Evan.
I was able to buy an AudioTechnica cartridge for the record player. I haven't installed it yet. Another problem with the unit --- an MCS Series 2237 -- is that the volume control makes horrendous noise. I have to keep fiddling with it to get the volume to respond, and even when I think I have it stabilized, it seems to fade to lower volume. I guess the problem is dirty contacts, but I don't see a way to get insde to clean it. Any ideas on this?

You need to clean the volume control with Caig DeOxit.

Search audiokarma.org on the best way to do it.

It should clean up the control nicely.
