which is better, and which chip set has anyone used??

looking at MAX9709, TDA8922 etc...

planning on using 2 12v SLA batteries.

was thinking of the tripath stuff, but they are questionable about availability.

There are some offerings from MPS worth looking at: http://www.monolithicpower.com/dp_audio_cd.htm

I've used the MP7720 and it's every bit as good (actually better IMO) as a T-amp.

There are also some from Analog Devices that look quite nice.

I have a bunch of TPA3120D2 waiting for me to do something with them. I really can't comment on anything other than they are just another option for you.
