vp800 power supply failure. help! - Click HERE for Original Thread
asegura
I've had a VP800 for about 6 months now. Worked like a charm, until yesterday. I clicked the power switch and then pressed the "power on" button. The unit light sort of flashed and made a click sound. Now, it doesn't turn on at all. When I flip the power switch the fan does not turn either. I first tried switching the fuse, but that didn't help.

I called tech support and they told me that it was the power supply, which costs $265 plus $110 labor to replace. Does anyone know of another solution to this problem. The specs say "universal power supply." Is this something I could do myself or will an electronics repair shop charge me less than the manufacturer's quoted price?

Thanks for all the help.

Hi asegura,

I don't think u can replace it yourself. "universal power supply" means it accept ac 110V~220V. An electronic repair shop might able to fix it with less cost.

Thanks, I was considering buying the same model (as is - for parts) and just trying to replace it. But it might not be worth it. Maybe I should just get a new one on ebay, but it seems wasteful.
