Question about Projection television lamps? - Click HERE for Original Thread

How long will the lamps die out? And can I pick up a replacement lamp at my local best buy store or circuit city, or do I have to go to their official website and buy it from them?

I don’t know much more but I think life depends on how much TV you watch per day and also it depend on lamp quality. I bought a Philips original projection lamp 2 years ago from a website called www.discount-merchant.com. Its really amazing work and believe me I have no problem yet. So I would recommend for Philips original lamps. Thanks!

The life of a lamp can vary depending on how often it is turned on/off. The fewer times the lamp is started the longer it will last. You should NEVER turn a lamp off and then back on without letting it cool properly first. I have personally had one explode this way.

Be prepared to shell out some dough for a replacement, these are no 50 cent incandescent bulbs. Mine was about $170 to replace.

I wouldn't recommend even buying a projector if you plan on using it as a TV. Buy a LCD or Plasma instead. Projectors are better for occasional movie watching (unless you have big :$: for bulbs.)

But I am selling cheaper projector bulb, only bulb without reflector. you can rebuild your lamp kits with my $40-60 bulbs
