hi all,
bought a 5Y3GT recently..the base was label GE..but the glass was label Brimar 5Y3GT..and there is another labeled "canada 5Y3GT"!!...so this tube is made by whom actually??..GE or Brimar and Made in Canada? is the tube has been re-branded?

Hi,
If you see an acid marking on the glass denoting the tube type you can be 100% it is made in the US or Canada.
Brimar was a UK manufacturer and I doubt they ever made the 5Y3GT themselves.
All USSR and European tubes carry always silk screen (at best)markings,this makes rebranding them a lot easier and you really need to be a professional to trace the origine of those tubes.

I remember these from my youth.:o
Quite a popular valve in the UK, along with 6X4..or something like that.
I don't doubt Frank is right about the origin, though they weren't known as imports.

Re: 5Y3 closest European equivalents are the GZ30 (continental Europe) and the British U50.
