Add volume knob to quad 303 - Click HERE for Original Thread

Anyone know how i'd go about adding a volume knob to quad 303 power amp?

I'm a musician and use the amp in a home studio for various things (driving monitors, driving instrument preamps out to cabinets etc).

Basically, i'd prefer to adjust the signal at the quad power amp rather than at the source... y'know, so that the source signal is compromised less.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has performed such a modification, especially what type of pot you used, the wiring involved and where the hell you mounted it on the chassis..

Thanks

Hi headcaver,
There isn't really room for a good control and you would be spoiling an amplifier. Lowering the signal level at the source is fine as long as it's buffered. Doesn't your board have a level adjust on the sends?

The 303 is sensitive. You could simply make a -20 dB pad for it. That may fit right in the plug.
