Use your old car/shelf LS in home or garage !!! - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi All,

I've been at audio for decades, and have just started refining this project -
http://fullrangedriver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1744

I have heard car systems which are a real delight to listen to from a SQ point of view, but audio purists generally do not give car LS a second look.
These 'knock-up' LS/cabinets extend that for home use, and have genuine output down to 25Hz.

I particularly like 6x9s because their shape overcomes a characteristic 'sound' as can be developed by a constant driver cone driver radius.

Some years ago there was a massive comparison test of 6x9s, but manufacturers seem to change their lines nearly every year. Has there been any more recent driver shoot-outs that members can point me to ? (Though I would not be interested in any which are-over-the-top price-wise, and besides they would have to beat these very reasonable Kenwoods.)

If anyone tries this home bipole arrangement I should be very pleased to hear from them at

Cheers ........... Graham.

Design finished, and most satisfactory.

Could use any spare full range, coax or components you have from 6.5" to 8", or 6x9 or 7x10.

Only those who try this will appreciate how easy it is to get good sound, and with four drivers being driven by the left/right front/rear outputs of a head unit, a really compact room system could be achieved.

Cheers ........ Graham.
