Oh yeah, 7KY6 - Click HERE for Original Thread

Someone get out a 7KY6. Try it in pentode or triode.

(Don't worry about the oddball heater, it's within tolerance of 6.3V and most 6.3V will be running high (7V) anyway.)

Hi,

Hmmm...interesting specs.

Cheers,;)

Ha!

Coming full circle four years later, I have jammed together some crummy triode curves.

They look better in person.

Very cool -- mu~30 and rp ~ 1K ... is that right? Pins are only slightly different from a 6688 or 7788, and it looks like a nice cheap lower mu alternative to those.

I've been looking for something to build a push-pull amp out of with some 5K:8 transformers, and didn't want to use the 2A3's I'm supposed to. These look to fit the bill quite nicely.

This appears to be the same as an 11HM7 with a different heater. It makes a good driver tube for sure, especially in pentode mode.

Have you looked at the screen dissipation when in triode mode? A lot of the high Gm video pentodes when triode connected quickly exceed the G2 power ratings... G2 is usually the limiting factor (not the plate dissipation).

Also, as a triode, the miller capacitance is probably pretty high.
