Fiesta-BIB! - Click HERE for Original Thread

when I asked Scottmoose some advise on iBIB using Tang Band W3-871S, he drew me a line sketch of his suggestion.

From there my imagination took off (I should be on something to slow me down...) and using sketchup and here is what I came up with. It is somewhat top heavy so I had to construct a base/foot and I managed to build it in 2 parts, so the baseactually separates for easy move and at same time reasonably stable. (we have occasional earthquakes here in Southern California). All made from MDF except parts of base.

My kids saw the paint job and said "that's fiesta colors..."

The sound?, I also built a DelSol (smaller speaker) using same color and near identical speaker and BBB continues to surprise me with the fullness of base. I like the colors on DelSol so went with the same color but in reverse. Midrange and upper is more than adequate for non rock music IMHO.

Now have to look at Harvey...

Funky and cheerful. I like the way they stand on their points. Very umm, err .... Willy Wonka.

Those are lovely Greg... i was waffling on taking the paint to the spare PAWOs but with your inspiration i'll have to go out and get some paint...

Gychang, lovely work!!

Just a couple of questions:

It appears that the line is tapering down from the top, which looks open. So the line is not folded, or is it?

iBIB is understand by all here (I think) to mean that the opening is towards the floor. If the opening in your BIBs are towards the ceiling, perhaps the title should go through another change.

Thanks,
Scottmoose
They're an unfolded TQWT as driver Fs is too high for a folded box to be especially practical.

In my excitement of trying to put up some pictures, I made several mistakes. The speaker is not inverted BIB, you are right of course. It is unfolded and opened at the top (like the regular BIB).

Moderator: the title should be "Fiesta-BIB!", sorry about this.

Dave, your web-site, ideas and inputs on this forum has been very helpful for me.

Nice! The color helps the integration of the suprabaffle, and makes apparent what an odd and interesting acoustical design the BIB is.

There's lots of Scandinavian architecture students that would LOVE these :) I predict build-them-yourself BIBs from IKEA someday.

They look great! Any stuffing?

Also, i notice you swapped out your low cost driver for a fostex. I see it behind one of the fiestas... Which fostex did you choose?

Gozilla, u have a sharp eye, el cheapo driver was actually installed in another cabinet (even taller) and sounded great (gave it away to a friend), so this was my 2nd BIB, this time with FE107E and is a keeper as my main speaker. Smooth bass.

For the Fiesta BIB: I used a carpet layment behind the speaker and the acoutic polyfil below the speaker placement (to the cone end) for the Fiesta BIB as recommended. Initial listening is very nice, will wait to see if the sound changes...

The speaker is broken in since I left it on for two weeks, this weekend I did some listening thru my 30 year old lovely Kenwood receiver and t-amp clone.

I am surprised by the bass, rock solid and more than deep enough for non rockers. I am not sure if the "unfolding" of the regular BIB has any advantages but these 3" speakers in fiesta is really good with variety of music. Am surprised by the even orchestral music, jazz and popular is extraordinary. Midrange and high sound is not surprising but the quality and extent of bass is...

Don't let any children find out the top is open....
