Alpine PDX amps: review? - Click HERE for Original Thread
onefastsi
Hey everyone. just wondered if anyone has, or has seen a review on the PDX amps of Alpine? I read a little review on car audio and electronics, but I'd like more feedback. I'm looking for a nice "high end" amp, that's small and sound great for SQ. Just want to make sure these fit the bill!

Thanks

I install and sell alpine and other brands at the car auido store i work at. We had the pdx 4.150 in a BMW and it fell flat on it's face compared to the Rockford T 400-4.
Now with that said it was all run off of his **** onier head unit. I belive that with the right head unit, meaning a lot of preamp voltage, that the pdx would be fine. We have put them in others cars and they rocked!. Small, and produce very little heat.
I will also say that depending on the speakers, and aplication you may need an eq. So you could probably get away with a med power head unit if you had... oh lets say an audio control EQ... something to bump uo the input voltage.
If you run a nice alpine head unit, and use the 4.150 to biamp some.. oh JL or boston componets, you would be rocking pretty good.
Overall i give it a 7 out of ten. Big points for ingenuity, but i take away for the stupid speaker conections, and some SQ. Sorry it's still class D no matter how many transistors you use.

PS i would go with the v power apline line. You'll have to just demo a lot of different amps till you find the one you
]ll like.
