All,
Some time ago I bought a large number of fets for my own projects, as I found that larger batches have higher efficiency when you really want closely matched fets.
The excess fets were made available in http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/show...&threadid=81051
Given the number of reactions received in the last week, I worked out a possiblity to make fets available for a much better price. When there is a requirement in excess of 300 fets per type (IRFP240 and IRFP9240) I get an extra discount also there will be less unused fets.
This means the price goes down to 2,78 euro per fet / 33,36 euro for a full set of fets for an F4.
Would this be interesting? |

Conrad offers them for 1,70 if you buy more then 25 and i thought that you can get them by nedis for around 1,30 for the irfp240 model

How many do you plan on buying to get the matched triples? I am sure that Tarasque's offer is quite sound and healthy! You can buy 25 pcs tubes at a lesser price a pcs, but what to do with the excess?? Come to think of it , having matched loads of fet's, I think Tarasque's price is really cheap! Who wants to get stuck with a load of unmatchable fets?? IMO, the price is too low!
Matched pairs wont cut it, you need triples!

| use them for powersupply's and other things, and yes of course they are cheap for matched pairs but you see so much group buy's and package deals these days most people only screw to gether the components i think that's not DIY. |

I can get IRFP240 for 0,89 and the IRFP9240 for 1,01. These are all mixed production codes and from unknown sources.
To get fets from the same wafer and from confirmed sources is a different ballgame and a way different price! |

OK, probably dumb question:
Are the IRFP240 matched only to each other or are they also matched to the IRFP9240?
I have a pile of matched IRFP240's so if they don't need to be matched also to the IRFP9240's, then I only need IRF9240's. Cuts my cost in half! |

upper half- 3 matched
lower half - 3 matched
you can match all 6, but only if you are paranoic ;) |

I'm doing a balanced version of the Choky two-step.
(2 mosfets per board) : 4 boards for stereo.
Looks like I don't have to match anything!!!

I looked for the TL431...I gan get them for 0,07 euro I will throw them in for free...
So 2 TL431 is included for each set of fets.
If the 2SK370 is substituted by the 2SK170 and the 2SJ108 by the 2SJ74, I can add then for 1,66euro.
So the complete Q-pack 35 euro.

All,
It is time to order. Despite the fact that there is an interest of 36 sets, I received a warning from my supplier that the prices are rising fast. Only fets from current stock can be delivered to me for the agreed price. I'm still planning on ordering ~300 fets each, so there will be room for 12 sets (I'm keeping 2 as well if that is OK with you all).
This is how I want to proceed:
1: Please send a mail to me confirming your number of sets and confirm if you also want the 2SK170/2SJ74 fets.
I will reply with the amount and paypal details. S&P will be 8 euro world wide, paypal fee 4%
2: pay by paypal and Include your name and shipping details!
3: I will order the fets after the payments have been made. The plan is to order next monday. If I do not receive all the money, I will have to return all funds to the senders
4: It takes about 3 weeks to get the fets delivered. I estimated 2 to 3 weeks for matching.
5: I will confirm shipment.
6: Build the F4 and share your experience on the forum!

70 (fets) + 8 (shipping) + 3.12 (4% paypal) = 81.12 Euro for 2 sets
I'm not sure if 3 sets will still fit in the same envelope, but can you please confirm (Tarasque) if these numbers are right?

To confirm:
35 (fets) + 8 (ship) + 1.72 (4% ppal) = 44.72 Euro for 1 set
70 (fets) + 8 (ship) + 3.12 (4% ppal) = 81.12 Euro for 2 sets
105 (fets) + 8 (ship) + 1.72 (4% paypal) = 117.52 Euro for 3 sets.
3 sets still can be shipped for 8 euro. |

2 sets is no problem, 3 sets will be on the limit.
My standard setup is at 220mA. If you increase this, the thermal dynamics will change and this decreases the accuracy of the reading. I will have a look if I can repeat the accuracy at 500mA.
I found acceptable deviation when you change the bias between 100 and 700 mA while the matching was done at ~200 mA. |
